I. De quoi d'agit-il ?

  - Francis SANTONI, concepteur du logiciel ASTROPC (version 6.5), de la société AUREAS et sans lequel tous nos travaux auraient été irréalisables ;
- Pierre Dicharry, ingénieur-conseil ;
- Yves Lenoble, praticien-astrologue ;
- Agnès Pasturaud ;
- Christian Guellerin, photographe ;
- Charles Ridoux, historien
- Pierre Perradin, ingénieur-conseil
- Didier Castille, chercheur à l'INSEE
-

This is the second part of an article using a data base linking astrological materials with the score made at an individual characteristic test. These tests are used by recrutement offices.

This part studies the statistical correlations between these tests and the position of the planet on the horizon. The study is done according Domitude Angle (Placidus' houses) in degree and according ecliptic angle in the ascendant. There is less correlations with domitude method than ecliptic angle one. Moreover, correlations seem less numerous both with the horizon and with the position of the planet in ecliptic (in sign) described in first part.

Results are complicated, only a part of them can be linked to astrogical traditionnal data.

"Recherches de relations entre les transits et l'oeuvre de M.Ravel" de H. Delboy.

We have studied the frequency of coincidences between the occurs of transits said favourable and the creating dates of the works of musician Maurice Ravel.

The study is done with 45 independant events and managed on the hand with a sample of fictive transits and on the other hand with the theoretical average got by waiting transits occured by chances. The fictive transits are based on false dates achieved with a random way. The results show it exits an excess of real transits to k = 24 against 13 in the fictive group; 17.4 is the expected average. This excess has a statistical meaning with p < 0.05. The way of these transits are distributed with the time is wakeout by an evenemential graph (actuarial method). This graph shows again an excess of transits (p < 0.01) compare with the theoretical group and the fictive one (check sample).

Otherwise the results stay up to the hazard between the fictive transits group and the expected average. Finally this excess of transits seems due to the transits issued from Jupiter.

Les Précurseurs

by Françoise Gauquelin

Thew researchers know, that since the beginning of this century, there was in France a school of applications of the statistical method to astrology that was dominated by Major Paul Choisnard. Long before the area of computers which provide today powerful help to staticians there were already dynamic pionners who were willing to do by hand patiently and obstinatly the calculations that machines do for us to day.

COMPARAISON STATISTIQUE ENTRE DES CRITERES ORTHOPHONIQUES ET DES FACTEURS ASTROLOGIQUES. By Hubert BRUN.

We have put in touch certian points of view of speech therapy end some astrologic elements.

By statistical comparaison between a group of problem children and a reference group, we have observed signigicant astrologic connections.

The results are in accordance with the astrologic symbolism.

The axis 3/9, which is the speaking axis, is in lack of planets whereas the axus 6/12, called silence axis, is in excess of planets fir chikdren with speech therapy problems.

UTILITE D'UNE HYPOTHESE PRELIMINAIRE DANS LES RECHERCHES STATISTIQUES. By Françoise GAUQUELIN

Neophytes in scientific research should write down a firm peliminary hypothesis before starting to look for the expected objective result that would promote astrology to the status of an acknowledged science.

FIRST RESULTS FROM AN EXPERIMENT WITH DOGS. By S.Fuzeau-Braesch, Ph; D, D.Sc.

In relation to the inherited sociocultural hypothesis of A. Müller and J. Halbronn concerning the nature of the astr-character relations, an empirical astrological study is organized with a first population of new-born digs of 181 individuals. The preliminary resluts presented here in contradiction with tehe above hypothesis and show links related to the traditiona lhuman astrology.

Summary of RAMS issue n°5 February 1997 (in french)

Editorial :

For our fifth issue, we wish to continue exploring and developing the scientific aspect of astrology.

To meet this challenge, we are starting a new column on modern statistical techniques available to astrology researchers. As there are so many of them, we can only tackle them gradually. Our objective is to make these new techniques comprehensible and to show how they are used by specialists, one after another.

We shall , of course, continue our usual columns: reports on new research - this time the problem of lunations and births - and the latest news on "astrology at university".

As we also wish to meet the various requirements of everyone, we thought it would be interesting to offer our readers a historical account of the astrological culture, translated from Italian.

Birthrates and Mooncycles, Didier CASTILLE :

The study of the distribution of births during a "Méton cycle" of 135 sun-moon cycles (that is, 6,939.55 days) reveals, above all, an influence of the seasons (at its height in May and at its lowest in January), as well as a phenomenon linked a weekly cycle (decrease in births on Sundays). Within these clearly identifiable factors, we have brought to the fore a slight correspondence with the moon-sun cycle, showing a very low excess of births during the full moon and last quarter, of about 0.38% and 0.24% respectively, compared to the average. For this purpose, we have drawn up computor files adjusted by the major phenomena mentioned above.(total births:14 435 700).

3- Validation of a statistical transits computor programme about 636 carrier events of 145 politicians Hervé DELBOY :

We have analyzed the frequency of occurred of transits within a homogeneous population of 145 politicians for the event: "promotion of career"giving place to 636 events. The global test is significant showing an excess of transits in the real group (440 transits, is 69,18%) against 365,24 in the theoretical group, is 57,42% with p < 2E-09, results residing true at random in the fictitious group (365 transits, p NS). This excess is had mainly to some specific pm of a theme (U with p < 0,001 and P with p < 0,001) give also significant results. Some positive results have be shown too with the fictitious group (pm P with p < 0,01) and are studied in retail. The employed methodology is studied in detail, pointing especially the interest to have a sufficient power to interpret correctly a statistical test.

Planetary clusters and great previsions : about a new book Suzel FUZEAU-BRAESCH

The book entitled "Histoire des enfants de l'an 2000" by the astrologer I. ANDRIEU, asserts that births of the end of this century, on the background of the planetary clusters, will give rise to a new humanistic Renaissance. It is shown that these clusters are not extraordinary, and have not been rare in the past; see publication of N. Michelson which described 1562 clusters of 5 and more sky elements within a 20° arc between 1700 and 2050.

Astrology at the University : Four events should be mentionned :

1) An academic astrological russian publication by V. DRUZHININ;

2) A medical thesis on psychiatric hospitalisation related to sun zodiacal sign by F. LEFEBVRE;

3) A D.E.A. (post-graduate studies) at Paris University on the methodology, proofs and historical background of astrology by E. TEISSIER;

4) Publication by Albin Michel of " Pour l’Astrologie, reflexions d’une scientifique " by Suzel Fuzeau-Braesch.

RAMS Astrological Research using scientific methods

Summary of RAMS issue n°6 January 1998

Editorial

We are proud of our five years of existence, but wish to review our activities so as to become more effective

The firts RAMS Study Day is a fitting response : it was a great success and this issue of the Cahiers is devoted to its proceedings

The objective we fixed for ourselves during this Study day is to disseminate the various research projects under way while affirming our scientific mind, in order to encourage reflection and discussion.

Using the basic background of " astrology-astronomy " ( account by F. Santoni to which we added the translation of an excellent article by a Romanian astronomer, I. Predeanu), the influences of lunar cycles are analysed ( D. Castille) as well as the correlations between the positions of Neptune and the musical professions (C. Guellerin) . The latter has identified a new factor in the tradition of the famous discoveries by the Gauquelin in the past. The zodiac is the object of an indisputable validation through a study on the sociability ratings of 524 people ( S. Fuzeau-Braesch). Forecast are also analysed ; the transits relating to 636 ministerial nominations of politicians reveal the wealth and complexity of a well-conducted analysis using the best statistical tools ( H. Delboy)

Finally, world astrology is reviewed ( the chart of the Fifth Republic) even though there was not enough time to discuss the difficulty of the causal process of such group phenomena.

During the last World Congress on Chronobiology ( Paris, September 1997), it was revealed that electromagnetic fields emitted by portable telephones cause a decrease in the peak of growth hormone. This is certainly food for thought ...

The Study Day therefore promises to be fruitful for the future, and a subject of unanimous agreement : we must continue to work...

OUVERTURE DE LA JOURNEE D’ETUDES RAMS, Suzel Fuzeau-Braesch

Abstract

The author explains the 3 guideline for the research work of RAMS: 1) to carry out scientific research on statistics covering all fields of astrology in order to distinguis astrology from the " pseudo sciences ", 2) to perfect, if necessary, the astrological rules, to confirm or refute them in the course of such research work, and 3) to envisage and discuss the problem of the nature of the links thus proved between elements of the solar system and human beings.

ASTRONOMIE ET ASTROLOGIE, Francis Santoni

Abstract

data on astronomy are compared with data on astrology, particularly those concerning the zodiac, gravitation and magnetism. research on astronomy is moving towards an increasingly mathematical approach.

As a supplement : the translation of an article on astronomy by Dr. Irina PREDEANU (Romania) demonstrating the numerous correlations between geophysical parameters and the position of planets around the Sun (Sun-Earth-Mars- Jupiter combination)

ENQUETE EMPIRIQUE SUR LES ORPHELINS, André Barbault

This is a description of the specific function attributed to Saturn and a discussion on the claim by A. RUPERTI that a father who has died too early is indicated by Saturn in retrograde, as well as data on Tradition. The investigation, involving 171 orphans, shows that Saturn is often in House 4 and 10. Saturn in retrograde is not confirmed by an observation of 250 orphans.

SOCIABILITE ET ZODIAQUE, Suzel Fuzeau-Braesch

The aim of this study is to compare sociability scores ( Test Eysenck-Wilson) of a population of 524 students with their astrological charts. The position of the Sun in eleven out of twelve zodiacal signs corresponds significantly to alternations of higher and lower sociability for odd and even signs of the zodiac, this being in complete conformity with astrological tradition ( Ptolemee) The division into months of the calendar year eliminates all alternations. On the other hand, a significant sinusoidal evolution (COSINOR) appears, with a maximum in October/Libra, which was not known until now.

STATISTIQUES PORTANT SUR 636 NOMINATIONS MINISTERIELLES, Hervé Delboy

The considerable computer resources available now enable us to carry out extensive studies with numerous research options. Thus, we have presented :

-on the one hand, the conclusions of our previous study (see RAMS issue 5)

-on the other hand, research through tables of the planetary forces available on ASTROPCW

The consequent findings make it possible to show that the valorization of factors of the birth chart ( planets and axes)) must be done through a full inventury of transits affecting all factors , which is feasible only if we have at least 30 events per chart. Future studies are therefore necessary for a deeper understanding of this notion of a " significant point " ( point marquant)

RELATIONS ENTRE CYCLES LUNAIRES ET NAISSANCES, Didier Castille

See RAMS 5 . Research covering 14 million births.

RECHERCHES DES SIGNIFICATEURS ASTROLOGIQUES DU SIDA, Maurice Charvet

The author puts forward a research experiment on the main significators in the charts of patient who have died of AIDS compared to other diseases.

NEPTUNE ET LES MUSICIENS, Christian Guellerin

This analysis of numerous charts of musicians ( classical, jazz etc..) reveals the preponderance of Neptune in a ruling position in the charts compared to other non-musical populations and random fictitious populations.

An addendum written by Hervé Delboy fully confirms the result which emerges as the first new finding since the correspondences demonstrated over 20 years ago by the Gauquelin in the case of other professions and other planets.

A PROPOS DU THEME DE LA Vème REPUBLIQUE, Charles Ridoux

One of the constant problems of the world astrology is the establishment of reliable national charts. This study seeks to define the birth of the Frensh Fitth Republic in the course of a historical debate, followed by a procedure of astrological comparison which leads to the adoption of the date 28 September 1958 , at 22h00 ( when the voting booths were closed in Paris).
